Recycling accumulators and batteries

What is the project?
The Program of recycling accumulators and batteries is one more initiative of commission to social responsibility by MULTIALLOY in favor to uphold the development. It takes part in the project Multirecicle, a project already founded by MULTIALLOY including the selective collection.
Why accumulators and batteries?
The inadequate disposal of accumulators and batteries can represent a serious risk to the environment and the public health. Mercury, Nickel, Lead and Cadmium are some of the substances in those products. They can contaminate the water, the food, the animals and the people, causing problems to health, as damages to the kidneys, liver and lungs.
The problem
The problem is that the use of accumulators and batteries are growing constantly. More than 5 billion were discarded in Brazil. During the last five years less than 1 million were collected for appropriate recycling.
WHO PARTICIPATES
The organizations that participate are collaborators, customers, suppliers, other partners and the community. Our program is open to anyone that is interested in contributing for the preservation of our planet.
How does it work?
The accumulators and used batteries can be deposited in the collectors installed in each unit of MULTIALLOY. After a certain amount of accumulators and batteries is collected we will give them to the agencies of a Brazilian bank called “Banco Real” which in turn gives the collected material to a organization called “Suzaquim.” It’s the only company licensed in Brazil to carry out the recycling of this kind of material.
What accumulator type or battery type can be recycled?

The collectors receive all types of accumulators and portable batteries: clocks, cellular, laptops, palmtops, camcorders, calculators, digital cameras, radios, toys, small flashlights, cordless phones etc.
